A green setting ideal for strolls, the site is made up of two bodies of water, dedicated on the one hand to fishing and also to walkers and sportsmen.
The history of the "Azure lakes"
Originally, there was no body of water and the hilly meadow was crossed by a small stream which has its source upstream from Rue du Lavoir and which is called: L'Arentèle.
In 1912, the owner of the place, Mr. Emmanuel VALLANCE, living in the neighboring house, undertook to dig the valley further, pushing the earth downstream to build a dam. The water held prisoner gave birth to the first pond. Immediately, a leisure center developed: canoeing and swimming in the summer; skating in the winter; fishing where carp abound.
In 1924, a second pond was dug upstream from the first; envisaged as a reserve for the first. Until the war, POINTHAIE was a place of celebrations and open-air cafés.
In 1997, the municipality of Bruyères purchased the entire property. Redevelopment work was undertaken to rehabilitate the whole: cleaning out the ponds, improving the pedestrian areas, discovery trails, building pontoons, and picturesquely modifying the course of the Arentèle.
The oldest say that the ponds of Pointhaie were once called the Lacs d'Azur.
