In the Vologne Valley at the foot of the Montagne du Village, Fays is a small Vosges village of character in a green setting.

To reach the start by car. From Place Stanislas, take the direction of Remiremont. After leaving the village of Laval sur Vologne, take the direction of FAYS. Shortly after entering the village, park in the car park before the town hall.

When leaving the car park, go down to the right where you came in and at the bend take a path on the right which allows you to climb a wooded ravine. Follow a fence and you will arrive at a dirt road. Enjoy the vast panorama. Take the path on the left then immediately right. After a short descent and a ford crossing of a stream, follow a flat path in the middle of a magnificent beech forest. Before the first houses of Lépanges sur Vologne, take the path on the right. It will soon follow the edge. Do not miss this landscape where the village nestles at the bottom and on the sides of the Vologne valley. At the end of a dirt road, on the heights, turn left. At the next crossroads, go down for 100 m then take rue du Parremont which we leave to go left then rue de l'Orée du Bois. We will leave it at a bend, for a dirt road going up which takes us into the forest. Back on a wide forest path, go right to a tarmac road (1 km). Follow this road for 200 m, then take the path downhill on the right. At the exit of the forest, take the path on the left then, very quickly, the road on the left. Leave the rue des Mauvais Blés to take a dirt road on the left then twice on the right. The wide forest path will take you near the Bégel stele, then to the old sandstone quarry and finally to the top of the hill (nice view of Bruyères on the way back down).
At the tarmac road, if you are tired, you can reach the parking lot via Rue de la Creuse. Otherwise, you have 3,5 km left.
Take the grassy path on the edge which will take you back to the forest, be careful not to miss your path on the right! Head left when you arrive on the path. Agricultural landscape, views of Bruyères and the Vologne valley, forest with various species, spring catchment along your route but remember to take a path on the right when you arrive at the exit of the forest in view of a farm. This path takes you back to the village and down to the right, to the car park.
